Registration Open: Point Iraq Conference 6.0 – Erbil, 12–13 September 2025

On 12–13 September 2025, Erbil will host the sixth edition of the Point Iraq Conference, organized by Tawasul/تواصل, member of the ICSSI network, together with a number of national and international partners.

The POINT Conference is an international forum that examines how technology and modern media can be used to strengthen democracy, transparency, and civic participation. The Iraq edition, launched in 2018, provides a space where activists, journalists, and human rights defenders exchange ideas and experiences, while discussing challenges facing civic space in Iraq and the wider region.

This initiative is part of a broader effort that links Iraq to regional and international debates. The conference in Erbil runs in parallel with the main POINT Conference held in Sarajevo, organized by the foundation Zašto ne (Why Not) in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Action SEE Network across Southeast Europe.

The 2025 edition in Erbil is expected to bring together more than forty speakers from Iraq and abroad. Over two days, participants will take part in panel discussions and interactive presentations focusing on themes such as freedom of expression, independent media, civic and political rights, and the role of technology in supporting civil society. In addition to highlighting practical experiences and success stories, the conference will also address global trends that affect democracy and civic participation, including restrictions on association and limits on civic freedoms.
