International Youth Day

The Iraqi Social Forum organized a musical event on International Youth Day, last Saturday on the 7th of August 2021 at IQ Peace Center; where the band Ghaima gave a musical performance for the audience that consisted of a number of activists and volunteers. The event was inaugurated by the secretary of the Forum Mahmoud Al-Hiti who welcomed the attendees and proceeded to introduce the concept of the Iraqi Social Forum and its activities during this year and also introducing the general vision of the Forum and the preparations in progress in order to hold the sixth Season during November of this year. He also spoke of the significance of organizing such activities after the long hiatus that last for months due to the general situation and the unstable health conditions in the presence of coronavirus pandemic, nevertheless, it was immensely important to celebrate International Youth Day seeing that the youth play a fundamental role, one that is integrated with the essence of the very occasion of the Season for this year that aims towards supporting youth and their aspirations and inventions to achieve developmental goals and this is what we offer and share in the Iraqi Social Forum.

Shortly after, the musical activity commenced with a varied performance of many original lyrical and musical segments that last for an hour and a half, where the musical band Ghaima performed a collection of the most beautiful modern and folklore songs that amused and engaged the audience. Furthermore, we received positive responses from the activists and volunteers who showed eagerness to work with the Forum’s voluntary groups to prepare for the sixths season of the Iraqi Social Forum and this is what our colleague Hussein Al-Harbi during the event, he also clarified that the essential purpose of this activity is to promote values of peace and love and to provide space through which the youth can better express themselves and their talents, as well as encourage and engage them in voluntary work with the Iraqi Social Forum, especially within the activity of its sixth Season.
