 The European Union congratulated Iraq on Thursday on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Security Council’s resolution on women safety and security. although he confirmed the expansion of violence against women in the past years, after the expansion of terrorist groups to extend their influence and control over the regions and cities in the country.

The Security Council resolution 1325 of 2000, is the first decision of the Security Council to address the disproportionate and unique impact of armed conflict on women.

According to a statement issued by the European Union he congratulates Iraq for the first anniversary for the adoption of the Iraqi National Action Plan for the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325 regarding the safety and security of women, and for nearly 15 years it is still more important than ever.

The statement added that the action plan is an important tool to strengthen the role of woman in Iraqi society, and her participation in local and international decision-making and her contribution to the resolution of conflicts and the emphasis on the non-violation of her rights.

The statement noted that the developments in Iraq over the past years have led to the expansion of violence against woman like sexually abuse and exploitation and trafficking of women outside the country, stressing that women are more vulnerable to the difficult conditions in the IDP camps.
