The Iraqi Social Forum organise Montreal CAFE’ In Baghdad, an event that will involve number of Baghdadi activists in a discussion about the World Social Forum process, its session in Canada and its relation to Iraqi political struggle against corruption and sectarianism.

Iraqi Alamal Association is a member in the national committee of the Iraqi Social Forum, its new office in Baghdad will host this event. The same office hosts number of important social and cultural events every week. This event Montreal CAFE’ In Baghdad will last only one day but it will include also a  teleconference with a parallel event taking place in the 12th session of the World Social Forum 2016  in Montreal-Canada. International activists who work daily to support Iraqi social movements, such as  Terry Rockefeller from September 11 Families for Peaceful Tomorrows and  Martina Pignatti president of the Italian NGO Un ponte per…, both board members of ICSSI, will take part in this event.

Jassim al-Helfi, President of the Information Centre for Research and Development in Baghdad (Maaluma) and co-founder of the Iraqi Social Forum, currently member of its National Committee will be talking at the session from Montreal.

In addition to this event and in the frame work of the WSF 20016 , The Iraqi Civil Society Solidarity Initiative (ICSSI) is organising a session about International solidarity with the Iraqi protests and with people’s civil struggle in Middle-East against fundamentalism, sectarianism and authoritarianism. Its slogan:

Daesh (IS) is not the only threat!”
