Training on Building and Running Advocacy Campaigns in Nasiriyah

The Information Center for Research and Development in cooperation with Mashhofna Cultural Center held training on building and running advocacy campaigns for a group of volunteers working in the Center’s teams who adopt water and heritage issues and freedom rights On 18 and 19 March at the Mashhofna Cultural Center in Nasiriyah.

The training was given by Salman Khairallah with the participation of 14 young people working in the Humat Al-Furat campaign, the Dhi Qar Heritage campaign, and the Protectors of Civilization team that works within the Urim initiative to protect the archeological site of Ur though fulfilling UNESCO’s demands. The Protectors of Civilization team is working on renewing the garden of the Nasiriya museum which represents the face of the city’s civilization. The training was attended by a number of volunteers from the I Love Dhi Qar Forum.

The first day of the training was on planning and running campaigns on heritage and water issues and brainstorming these issues through analyzing, selecting the problem, and prioritizing its issues. On the second day, the participants were divided into workgroups and a campaign was chosen, managed, and implemented in terms of evaluation. The participants in the training expressed the importance of dealing with such topics through such training, which will contribute to the development of the civil work that the center is working on in the city of Nasiriyah.

This training is part of the “Youth of Mesopotamia for Democratic Governance and Peaceful Coexistence in Iraq” project, implemented by the Information Center for Research and Development within the space of the Iraqi Social Forum and in cooperation with the Iraqi Civil Society Solidarity Initiative, supported by the European Union. The Information Center for Research and Development and Mashhofna Cultural Center concerns to develop the potential of volunteers working in various campaigns adopted by the Center within the space of the Iraqi Social Forum.
